Privacy statement

The Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. We would like you to know when we collect data, what data we collect and how we use this data. We have taken technical and organizational measures to ensure that the provisions governing data protection are complied with, by both the Ministry and external service providers.

As we evolve our website and implement new legal requirements or new technologies to improve the service we provide, it may be necessary to amend this privacy statement. We therefore recommend that you re-read this privacy statement from time to time.

Access to our website

Every time you access the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development’s website, data is saved in a log file for statistical and security purposes. No personal data is saved. The following are saved:

• name or URL of the file accessed;
• date and time of the page view;
• volume of data transmitted;
• message stating whether the download was successful;
• anonymized IP address

This data is used exclusively to improve our website. It will not be used to identify an individual user.

Data recorded when a person accesses the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development’s website will only be passed on to third parties if we are obliged to do so by law or in order to comply with a court ruling or if we are required to pass on the information for law enforcement purposes in the case of an attack on our internet infrastructure. Data will not be passed on for any other non-commercial or commercial purposes.

Ordering publications

If you contact the Ministry to order newsletters, brochures or other material, we will ask you for your name and other personal data. It is entirely up to you whether you provide this information or not. However, we do need the information if the material requested is to be sent to you by post.

If you contact us to order newsletters, brochures or other material, we will only use the personal data you provide within the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development. The data will be stored locally for processing and transmitted, in anonymized form, to a database for statistical analysis. The personal data will subsequently be deleted.

If you use our email subscription service or the “recommend this page” function, you are free to use a pseudonym or leave the name field blank.

Written or email enquiries

Public information enquiries sent in writing or by email to the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development are filed in accordance with the Guidelines for Records Management, which are a supplement to the Joint Rules of Procedure of the Federal Ministries.

Forwarding your enquiry to third parties

We will not pass on your enquiry to other ministries, authorities or third parties for the purposes of answering your questions unless you give your explicit consent.

Use of cookies

Some pages of our website use cookies without us being able to draw your attention to this. Most browsers are set so as to accept cookies automatically. However, you can deactivate the storage of cookies or set your browser so that cookies are only stored for the duration of the current session. Most of the pages on our website also work with deactivated cookies. Our online service includes links to websites operated by other providers. We have no influence on whether these providers comply with data protection regulations.
