Intelligent transport systems in the field of road transport

In order to meet the challenges of the 21st century in the field of road transport, it is indispensable for our transport policy that the employment of intelligent transport systems (ITS) be accelerated. The focus here is on intelligent vehicle and road systems which can make road transport safer, more efficient and more environmentally friendly because they are able to exchange information with each other.

Clean Energy Partnership (CEP) – Hydrogen moves!

The Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development is promoting the CEP as a lighthouse project within the National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology Innovation Programme (NIP). This association of leading industrial enterprises is running one of the world’s largest demonstration projects at present, testing the system capability of hydrogen (H2) in the transport sector.

Electric Mobility

Charge it up, please! Electric vehicles refuel at charging points. There are already about 1,500 such vehicles operating on German roads. And this is just the beginning.

Galileo satellites orbiting the Earth

Galileo – The European Satellite Navigation System

An independent, European, civil satellite navigation system, which is being developed for worldwide use, is being created in the form of Galileo.A reliable navigation and positioning system is increasingly becoming a key element for interlinking the different modes of transport to create an integrated transport system at the national and European levels.

Telematics in transport

In using new information, communications and guidance technologies in transport (transport telematics), politics and industry can see the potential to make mobility, in all of its diverse forms, sustainable, efficient and as environmentally sound as possible for both industry and individuals.
