Enhanced security measures at German airports

Since Monday, 6 November 2006, passengers have only been able to carry limited quantities of liquids in their cabin baggage through security checkpoints. The European Commission adopted these new security rules in response to the events in London on 10 August 2006, when planned terrorist attacks on aircraft using liquid explosives were thwarted.
The capacity of the individual containers must not exceed 100 millilitres. The containers have to be packed in a transparent, re-sealable plastic bag with a capacity not exceeding one litre (approximately 20 times 20 centimetres) and presented separately for examination at the checkpoint. In addition, liquid medicines and food for people on special diets (e.g. baby food) that passengers require during the flight may also be carried in cabin baggage. Passengers will be asked at the checkpoints to prove that these liquids are needed.
The new rules do not apply to liquids purchased after the checkpoints, for instance in duty-free shops.
For more details, passengers are advised to consult airlines and airports (or their websites) before travelling.
